Questions About Resale & Redistribution

Answers to common questions before you partner with CTR’s end-to-end resale & redistribution service.

  • What is Resale & Redistribution?

It’s the very essence of the CTR Group business. We start from the position that every single piece that comes into our care has an onward value – and our expertise lies in identifying and then monetising that value.

  • How does CTR’s Resale & Redistribution process work?

After receiving itemising and manifesting the product, we blend our resale channels according to your needs, with a UK-wide retail outlet channel, 25+ direct to consumer ecommerce channels, and an established UK and international wholesale market at our disposal.

  • What industries benefit from Resale & Redistribution solutions?

The list is almost endless – aside from heavy industrial plant perhaps (Although we’d enjoy the chance to try that too!) We are definitively product and category-agnostic – we don’t mind what sector or category our partners represent; our challenge remains the same – to unlock value through resale.

  • How does CTR ensure compliance and ESG reporting?

With each customer, we plug into our proprietary ACTRA and technology systems, and build bespoke reporting capabilities to ensure that, whatever the key metrics that you need to manage, we can dovetail our data to deliver you the transparency and reporting you need. Our business relies on agile and accurate inventory data management – a key competitive advantage we hold.

  • What is included in CTR’s Resale & Redistribution pricing?

We thrive on straightforward commercial conversations. Each case is taken on its merits and we love them all – let’s talk about how we can help you.

  • How quickly can CTR activate a Resale & Redistribution programme?

We like to think that CTR Group is particularly nimble and agile when it comes to solving challenges. In close partnership with our customers we can get going within a number of days rather than a number weeks. Let’s talk!

HoW WE GRADE OUR PRODUCTS

This grading process allows us to direct products into the most appropriate channels  from premium resale markets to repurposing and recycling streams. All items are sorted into one of four categories:

8%

PREMIUM GRADE

45%

FIRST GRADE

25%

SECOND GRADE

25%

THIRD GRADE

  • What is premium grade?

These are brand new or ‘as new’ items, often still with price tags attached. They are high-value branded or vintage products, sometimes called ‘cream’ stock, and are in strong demand within retail markets. Premium grade stock is typically sold to UK vintage and online retailers, or to international buyers such as Eastern European markets where resale values are higher.

  • What is FIRST grade?

These are quality second-life items with plenty of wear left, such as T-shirts, jumpers and shorts. They remain wearable but do not meet premium grade standards. Items are sorted by type and season, for example winter coats together and summer T-shirts together, so they are ready for the right markets. This allows us to supply climate-appropriate stock worldwide, ensuring the right products reach the right regions at the right time.

  • What is second grade?

Second grade items still have reuse potential but are not in top condition. They are generally directed to lower-income markets in developing countries where budgets need to stretch further and quality thresholds can be different.

  • What is third grade?

These are textiles that have reached the end of their wearable life but still have value through repurposing. They are sorted by material and sent to processing partners for upcycling or downcycling. For example, absorbent cotton fabrics are turned into high-demand industrial wiping cloths, while other fibres are recycled back into yarn for manufacturing. Any unusable remnants are repurposed into insulation, furniture fillings or other applications, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

INVENTORY TRANSFORMED

Unlock Strategic Resale and Responsible Redistribution

In today’s business landscape, excess inventory and customer returns can erode margins and expose your brand to ESG risks.

CTR’s Resale & Redistribution service converts surplus stock into profitable revenue streams or compliant donations - fast, transparent and fully auditable.

Excess Inventory

Overstock and unsold products tie up valuable capital and warehouse space. CTR’s resale network turns surplus stock into revenue quickly and with complete brand safety.

ESG Compliance

Uncontrolled redistribution can harm your reputation. We use private-label fulfilment and approved outlets to keep your brand intact.

End-of-Line Products

Donation programmes require full proof. CTR handles intake, grading and delivery with chain-of-custody records and tax-receipt support.

LEADING UK Retailer RESALE & REDISTRIBUTION: 24% REVENUE UPLIFT PER ITEM

40,000

Products per Week

24%

Revenue Uplift per Item

When a UK leading retailer faced growing volumes of end-of-season surplus and overstocks, they needed an ethical, controlled resale channel that would preserve brand integrity and extract maximum value. Conventional clearance routes risked discounting and reputational damage with little transparency.

CTR Group crafted a bespoke on-consignment model. We list incoming stock across 25-plus direct-to-consumer and reseller ecommerce channels under an open-book, profit-share arrangement. Every item is unpacked, scanned, priced and routed to the optimal sales outlet. Non-compliant products are handled through donation or recycling streams.

Over a sustained partnership we now process 40 000 items per week and deliver a 24 percent uplift in revenue per item versus liquidation. This approach has unlocked significant hidden margin for a UK leading retailer while ensuring full visibility, real-time reporting and unwavering brand protection.
